Upscale an image without losing quality

Sharper details at 2×, 4× or straight to 8K.

Regular resizing stretches pixels and smears edges. Pixa’s upscaler rebuilds texture, lettering and edges at 2×, 4× or 8K, so a small product shot or an old phone photo is ready for print or a large screen.

How it works

  1. Upload a small image

Add a JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC file up to 25 MB. Low-resolution and heavily compressed images are exactly what the upscaler is built for.

  2. Pick the size

Choose 2× or 4×, or the 8K option, which sets the long side to 7,680 px. Pixa shows the output size before you start.

  3. Compare and download

Drag the slider to compare before and after at 100% zoom, then download as PNG, JPG or WebP.

Why use it

  • Detail, not blur

The model adds credible texture to skin, fabric and foliage and keeps straight lines straight, where bicubic resizing only smooths.

  • Print-ready sizes

A 1,920 px photo enlarged 4× reaches 7,680 px: enough for a sharp print about 25 inches wide at 300 ppi.

  • Artifacts cleaned, not enlarged

Blocky compression and color banding from messaging apps are smoothed out during the upscale instead of being blown up with it.

Questions and answers

Does upscaling really add detail?

It reconstructs detail the model predicts from the surrounding pixels. It cannot recover what was never captured, such as a license plate a few pixels wide, but textures and edges come out far cleaner than with regular resizing.

What is the largest image I can create?

8K, which is 7,680 px on the long side; an 8K result uses two credits instead of one. If 4× would go beyond 8K, Pixa offers the largest size that fits.

Will faces look different?

Face enhancement is optional. Leave it off to keep the original look, or turn it on to sharpen eyes and skin texture on small or blurry faces.

Can I upscale a screenshot, a logo or an illustration?

Yes. Switch to illustration mode so the model keeps flat colors and crisp lines instead of adding photo-like texture.

Which format should I download?

PNG keeps every pixel and any transparency, JPG gives the smallest file for photos, and WebP is a good middle ground for websites.
